For the last month or so a flower pot right off a very high-traffic walkway has been the center of attention at Medved Chevrolet in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Since early April a couple of geese have been using the ceramic pot as a makeshift nest. At first they were merely spectacle. Many of us arrived to work to find aggressive edgy geese that would hiss, stick out their necks, and flap their wings or even chase you if you got even remotely close. The female goose even seemed to be taking out aggression on her guy.
Within a few days she had laid 5 eggs and curious employees got busy googling goose egg incubation periods and characteristics, developing hypothesis for why we had never successfully hatched a batch of geese in the past despite seeing similar mating couples, and making plans to sabotage any efforts to remove the eggs by, say, gardeners. Since the flower pot was right outside our Digital and Networking Director’s window her office became the unofficial observation deck where employees, random customers, and any curious persons routinely came to observe and share the latest news they had heard in passing or scrounged up on the nets about our little visitors.
