2014 Ram 1500 Denver
The folks who use Ram trucks to power through the country’s toughest jobs aren’t ones that take kindly to resting on laurels. So when the 2013 Ram 1500 was named Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year, the last thing that Ram engineers did was rest. Offering an innovative improvement on what was already the best truck money could buy, Ram became the first back-to-back Truck of the Year winner in automotive history.
Local drivers can experience all that the reigning Truck of the Year has to offer with the 2014 Ram 1500 in Denver. Equipped with the near-legendary Pentastar V6 engine, the 2013-model Ram already offered the best fuel economy returns of any V6 pickup. That top fuel economy of 25 highway mpg is back for 2014, but so is an industry-exclusive option that has thoroughly changed the face of light-duty trucks.
Beginning in early 2014, the Denver Ram 1500 will be available with a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6—the only of its kind in light-duty pickups. Known for effective low-end torque, the Ram’s diesel engine will actually out-muscle the available HEMI® V8 in that capacity. Though official measurements on towing and payload have yet to be released, EcoDiesel’s 420 foot-pounds of torque should compete with the Ram’s HEMI. Motor Trend also estimates that the diesel-model Ram could very well see real-to-life fuel returns of 28 highway mpg.
At this point, every other truck is on the wrong side of history. The Motor Trend write-up puts it this way: “The Ram 1500 makes history as the first back-to-back Truck of the Year winner because it offers all the things truck buyers want in a rig: choice, value, great design, and more than enough power and torque. And with the EcoDiesel, you can add efficiency and guts to that list.”
