The Annual SKATE the LAKE Winter Festival time has arrived and Medved Autoplex is proud to be a sponsor. The event is located at Evergreen Lake in Evergreen, Colorado. The lake is known for many fun activities including pond hockey, ice skating and paddle boating in the summer. SKATE the LAKE will take place on Saturday December 31, 2011 (New Years Eve) and end at midnight The event is put on by the Drive Smart program and is a part of the annual fundraiser. Medved Autoplex is one of the leading car dealerships in Denver and we are happy to be a partner of the Drive Smart Community.

SKATE the LAKE has been a New Years Eve tradition since 1996 and the winter festival has plenty of fun in store for children and adults alike. There will be ice-skating, fireworks, fire barrel bonfires, sleigh rides, food, music and ice games. Ice games will include pick-up hockey and broom stick hockey. There will also be face painting, jump castles and lots of food vendors. Remember, this event is alcohol-free to promote safe and smart driving. Fireworks will take place at 8 p.m. and midnight, the earlier show being for the little ones and those who would like to go to bed before the new year. Make sure you dress warm and arrive early if you want to rent ice skates because there will only be a limited supply. Skates are $7.00 to rent at the event.

Parking is not available at Evergreen Lake house or the Lake Point Center but there are five parking lots with shuttle access to the lake. These lots are at the Evergreen Safeway, Christ the King Catholic Church, Xcel, Albertson’s and Hiwan Homestead. Shuttle buses will run continuously from 5:30 p.m. until the end of the event.
